Post-browser
I too long for a post-browser internet, but I feel Joe Pemberton may have missed the mark.
I agree we can expect use of the internet to move beyond our desktops and laptops, he couldn’t of picked worse examples of its potential.
Itunes is bloated at best, an application destined to funnel as much activity as possible through Apple’s control. AIR is Adobe’s attempt to push the...

Where are we going?
Apparently the GPS satellite system has issues.
Frightening, because you just assume that this sort of stuff will be taken care of (which I’m sure it actually will be - it just makes for a good story).
Without GPS I’d have to go back to the bad old days of having to look for things on Google Maps before I left home. Ugh.
Kickstarter
I like the idea of Kickstarter.
It lets people put ideas forward ideas for a project of theirs, like say… an 8-bit tribute to Miles Davis and then have other people pledge funding. The funding is only collected when the target is reached.
Now all I need is an idea for a project.

Rejecting the App Store
Apple rejecting Drivetrain is balls.
Apps getting rejected for streaming content that Apple sells in the iTunes music store (NIN), accessing services where people might swear (Tweetie) or using the same protocol as many mac desktop apps is not a surprise anymore. Although Apple backflips when someone complains loud enough, it doesn’t seem like the process will be fixed.
I’m...

The Guardian has an API.
Perhaps survival for newspapers means acting less like newspapers?
Rejection hurts
I had noticed bit and pieces bouncing around about Apple’s rejection of NIN’s app, but hadn’t actually looks at the details. Apple’s stance does seem pedantic and hypocritical to say the least. Trent’s certainly not happy:
“You can buy The Downward Fucking Spiral on iTunes, but you can’t allow an iPhone app that may have a song with a bad word somewhere in it....
PSD OK
A good response from Adobe to the rants I mentioned a while back.
I respect them for honestly responding to customer comment, and they certainly make some astute technical points, but I have to wonder whether there is a root cause as to why everyone (myself included) is so keen to Adobe bash.

Stackhats
It turns out people are quite stupid.
Personally I think I would look worse if I was morbidly obese (or dead) than if I was wearing a helmet. Then again, if the net cost is lower and I can still wear a helmet, get rid of the laws.
VHX mode
Atari emulators are now emulating CRTs as well as the consoles themselves.
Makes me wish quicktime or my DVD player had a VHS mode. Maybe a cassette profile for AAC encoding?
